Lauren came to triathlon having already been to two Paralympic Games as a swimmer in 2008 and 2012. Aged 14, Lauren, from Peterborough, Cambs, won a scholarship to go to Mount Kelly, a prestigious boarding school in Devon that specialises in swimming –and her confidence skyrocketed. She went to her first Paralympics in Beijing aged just 15 and competed at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. On her second Games appearance at London 2012, Lauren qualified for the final of both the 100m freestyle S9 and the 400m freestyle S9. Lauren Steadman is known for being a Paralympian. She studied at Kelly College, Devon (now called Mount Kelly) - which has a highly successful competitive swimming training programme, but decided to switch from swimming realising that the sport had given her transferable skills and she enjoyed pushing her body over three sports, rather than just one. Lauren is originally from Peterborough but is now a member of the Portsmouth based UK Sport Lottery Funded British Paratriathlon Squad and coached by Robin Brew.
